Suheyla küçük dies at 95

The wife of the late Turkish Cypriot leader Dr. Fazıl Küçük, Süheyla Küçük passed away this morning.

Born on the 30th of July 1925 Süheyla Küçük served for many years as the head of the Cyprus Turkish Women’s Association.

Since the 14th of May this year she had been receiving treatment at the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu state hospital.

She was survived by her two children, 4 grand children and 4 great grand children.

Messages of condolences have been issued by state and government officials.

Prime Minister Ersin Tatar expressed his condolences to Mrs Küçük family and the Turkish Cypriot people.

“I am saddened to hear of the passing of Süheyla Küçük, the wife of the late Turkish Cypriot leader Dr. Fazıl Küçük who fought for the existence and freedom of the Turkish Cypriot people. With her politics and her services she has taken her place among the Turkish Cypriot peoples history. I want to express my deepest condolences to her family, friends and loved ones” said Tatar.

Deputy Prime Minister Foreign Minister Kudret Özersay in his message praised the late Süheyla Küçük for her services to the nation and added that she will always be loved and respected.
