According to Fileleftheros, Greek Cypriot Spokesperson Marios Pelekanos stated in a written statement yesterday that Anastasiades complained in his new letter dated 21 October that he had made new unilateral actions in the so-called "Cyprus EEZ", Karpaz and closed Maraş.

It was informed that Anastasiades asked Secretary-General Guterres to “promote more active involvement by immediately appointing a special representative to initiate the restart efforts to create the necessary preconditions for the start of a substantive dialogue to find a solution on the basis of UN Security Council resolutions. It was argued that Anastasiades also demonstrated his will and determination to cooperate with the UN and the Turkish Cypriot leadership in this direction.

Alithia included the written statement of Spokesperson Pelekanos in her news with the headline "Anastasiades Complained to Guterres about Turkish Challenges."

The newspaper wrote that Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Christodoulides said that there is a movement at the UN regarding the Cyprus issue, the first goal of which is the appointment of a special representative of the Secretary General, and that "we are working in this direction to make relevant statements very soon."
