Leaders reach agreement on island-wide 5G
In the statement made by the UN Peacekeeping Force, it was stated that President Tatar and Greek Cypriot leader Anastasiades reached an agreement for "5G application across the island".
The United Nations Peacekeeping Force (UNFICYP) announced that an agreement was reached between Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiadis and President Ersin Tatar for the implementation of 5G across the island.
According to the statement, the agreement was reached thanks to the "extensive work carried out in the last two years by the Broadcasting and Telecommunications Technical Committee".
It was also stated that the said agreement was concluded by Negotiators Andreas Mavroiannis and Ergün Olgun with the facilitation of Elizabeth Spehar, Deputy Special Advisor to the Secretary General of Cyprus.
According to the terms of the agreement, TV broadcasting systems will be removed from the 700 MHz frequency band, switching from analog broadcasting to digital broadcasting, and the 700 MHz frequency band will be allocated to 5G mobile services with the support of the EU.
