Tufan Erhürman, Chairman of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), was the guest of the "Captain's Diary" program prepared and presented by Ahmet Kaptan on Kulis Web TV.

Emphasizing that the names have changed in the last three National Unity Party (UBP) governments, but the mentality has remained the same, Erhürman stated that as a result of the mentioned mentality, the youth of the country is now thinking of immigrating, noting that the mentality should change, not the names.

ERHÜRMAN: MEASURES CAN BE TAKEN TO MAKE LIFE CHEAP

Stating that the exchange rate rose and those in the government were helpless by saying, "We can't do anything," Erhürman noted that it was clear from the day the pandemic began that the economy would deteriorate. Stating that necessary precautions could be taken starting from the previous periods, Erhürman said, “They could have taken measures to make life cheaper. We talked before the protocol was signed. We experienced the sudden depreciation of TL, we said we can live again. That's why we decided to address this issue in protocol negotiations. They did nothing,” he said.

“THE DRUG PROBLEM HAS BEEN EXPERIENCED FOR MONTHS”

Pointing out that the signing of the protocol was tried to be portrayed as an act on its own, Erhürman stated that the last 3 UBP governments thought of nothing but the congress. Stating that there has been a drug problem in the country for months, Erhürman pointed out that many patients have been experiencing this problem for months. Erhürman said, “This is not a matter of not having money and not being able to find medicine. Queues formed at gas stations because we couldn't find fuel? These problems occur because they are incompetent and careless.”

“THIS COUNTRY CAN STAND ON ITS OWN FEET”

Emphasizing that there are many people with high potential in this country despite all the difficulties, Erhürman noted that the UBP governments ignore these people. Erhürman said, “When we look at this budget, there is something overlooked. There was a huge pandemic. There was a period when we were closed and partially closed. The TRNC budget gave plus 2. What does this show? This country can stand on its own feet if it calculates its income and expenses correctly. Emphasizing that trying to freeze the cost of living is nothing but dragging the people into misery, Erhürman said, “When the country is in hardship, there is a thought that seeks a solution from the back of the employee's neck. This is not true,” he said.

“OUR YOUTH ARE GOING ONE ONE”

Stating that the domestic purchasing power should be protected with economic intelligence, Erhürman said, “This country has a structure that stands on its own feet and can be developed. It is a very comfortable and sustainable country,” he said. Erhürman noted that the youth of the country have the idea that "there is no future for us in this country, I want to settle abroad" and that incompetent and careless governments create this. Erhürman said, “They made the country like this. Our young people are leaving one by one. People from third world countries are coming to replace the young people who left," he said.

“DEBILITIES ARE DEFERRED, INTEREST CONTINUES TO RUN”

Pointing out that the situation in question is a mentality issue, Erhürman noted that they took steps to establish a crisis desk from the very beginning, but they did not receive any response. Stating that only the names have changed in the last three UBP governments, Erhürman said that the mentality has not changed. Stating that the loan debts have been postponed but the interest continues to accrue, Erhürman said, "How do you foresee that these debts will reach the point where they will be paid after 3 months?" asked.

“THERE IS NOT EVEN AN ITEM TO PROTECT PURCHASING POWER”

Pointing out that there is no item in the measures that protects the purchasing power, Erhürman stated that when the purchasing power is preserved, the cycle in the economy can also be maintained. Stating that they passed the medium-term program through the Council of Ministers twice during their 15-month stay in the government, Erhürman said that the UBP governments did not pass a medium-term program after the said period.

“THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TRIED TO CLOSE THE GOVERNMENT'S IMPOSSIBILITY”

Erhürman said, “When we say that there is a need for a special plan and program to deal with this crisis, the program that should be done normally has not been done even once. The chamber of commerce tried to make up for the government's inability with its own work," he said. Stating that the country was closed for months during the pandemic period, Erhürman said, "Many ministries have not been laid stone on stone." Emphasizing that the mentality should be changed, not the names, Erhürman said that the public now sees this.
