Resmiye Canaltay, Minister of Public Works and Transport, participated in the 'Manşet+' program broadcast on BRT and made statements.

"HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT 'FINISHED' AS INFRASTRUCTURE"

Saying that he wanted to make Northern Cyprus sparkle when he came to the Ministry, he said, “I spoke early because there is no money. There are no electrical technicians and electrical engineers in the Highways Department. There is no element to replace a lamp. The Highways Department is unfortunately finished in terms of infrastructure," he said. Stating that personnel were recruited for the Department of Highways in 2002, Canaltay stated that the recruitment announcement will be made in 2023.

"AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLER EMPLOYEES ALSO WORKED DURING THE PANDEMIC"

Referring to the Air Traffic Controller employees, Canaltay said that no one wanted to work in that task. Canaltay said, “They worked even during the pandemic period. These people go to work. These people have loopholes in their laws. We were able to touch them too. The law will go to the parliament," he said.

"PCR TESTS WILL NOT BE DONE IN ERCAN"

Touching on the backlogs at Ercan Airport, Canaltay said that PCR was abolished at Ercan Airport. Stating that the country's economy depends on education and tourism, Canaltay said, "If chaos is created in Ercan, it will both be a smear on their image and cause them to flee early, as the people who come will see it as a mirror."

"INCREATION OF NAVIGATION FEES IS NOT ON THE AGENDA"

Speaking about the navigation fees, Canaltay said that interest rate cuts were made on the navigation debts. Canaltay also stated that the discount will be valid until December 26. Canaltay stated that they are aware that they should also reward those who pay the navigation fee on time.

"WE MAKE ALL THE ROADS IF THE NAVIGATION FEES COME TO OUR Vault"

Expressing that the navigation fees go to the coffers of the finance, Canaltay said, “If the navigation fees come to our coffers, we will make all the roads of the country. They certainly don't take it kindly to that," he said.
