The Cyprus Turkish Medical Association (KTTB) called on the government to tighten controls and make some restrictions, to vaccinate the public and to follow the rules in order to control the increase in COVID 19 cases.

In the statement made by the Association, it was stated that vaccine superstitions should not be respected, and it was stated that internationally approved vaccines passed safety tests and were approved for use, and many scientific articles were published about their effectiveness / safety.

“Intensive care is full of unvaccinated patients. Unvaccinated people are more likely to have this disease and have a higher viral load, so they are at greater risk of transmission.” it was said.

“WE ARE IN THE HARDEST TIME”

Noting that the KTTB has experienced the most difficult period since the COVID-19 pandemic began to show its effect in the country, he issued warnings and made a call to the government and the public.

The Association noted that the number of cases rose to 200-300 per day, the Emergency Hospital was about to be full, the number of intensive care patients pushed the boundaries of the health system, and they faced the problem of finding beds for intensive care patients.

Emphasizing that although attempts are made to increase the number of intensive care beds, it will not be possible to provide adequate intensive care services unless steps are taken to control the number of cases, and it is time to increase measures to limit the number of daily cases in order to control the epidemic.

“CALL ON THE GOVERNMENT… TIGHTEN CONTROLS AND GO TO SOME RESTRICTIONS”

The union called on the government to tighten controls and impose some restrictions, noting that unchecked rules are meaningless.

Calling for tightening the rules and increasing inspections in closed areas where transmission is easier, the union demanded that unvaccinated people and those who do not have up-to-date COVID-19 testing be banned from entering closed areas and inspected.

In the union statement, which called for closely following the developments for the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron, and to apply double PCR or isolation at the entrances to the country until the situation is clarified, “Do not hesitate to take decisions for public health, ensure the implementation of the decisions you have made” were included.

“DOCTORS ARE HELPED IN THE TREATMENT PROCESS”

In the statement, it was noted that the deficiencies in drugs and materials to be used for patients receiving treatment in state hospitals and emergency hospitals continue to increase, and it was stated that physicians were helpless during the treatment process and problems were experienced in the delivery of ideal health services due to deficiencies.

In the statement, “It is one of the most important duties of our managers to quickly eliminate these deficiencies before our patients become victims. Business owners should also do their part, provide an environment suitable for pandemic conditions in their workplaces, supervise the rules at the entrance to their businesses, and should not let unvaccinated or COVID-19 untested individuals into their businesses.

CALL TO THE PUBLIC: “KNOW THE SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19... GET VACCINATION”

In the statement made by the Turkish Cypriot Medical Association, a call was made to the public to learn about the symptoms of COVID-19 and to have a PCR test immediately if symptoms are felt.

In the statement, the importance of following the rules was emphasized while calling for vaccination with the publicly accepted COVID-19 vaccines and completing the missing vaccines.

In the statement, “Obey the rules: Wear your mask correctly, observe physical distance, ventilate your environments, stay away from crowds.” it was said.

“VACCINES PROTECT US… DON'T RESPECT THEIR SURPRISES… INTENSIVE CARE IS FULL OF PATIENTS WITHOUT VACCINATION”

In the statement of the union, it was emphasized that the vaccine superstitions circulating should not be respected.

In the statement, it is stated that internationally approved vaccines have passed safety tests and approved for use, and that many scientific articles have been published regarding their effectiveness/reliability, “Intensive care is full of unvaccinated patients. Unvaccinated people are more likely to have this disease and have a higher viral load, so they are at greater risk of transmission.” it was said.

The following statements were included in the statement:

“If you have been vaccinated with a single dose, get your second dose of vaccine to be fully vaccinated.

If you have had 2 doses of Sinovac vaccine before and it has been 3 months since your last dose, consider yourself unvaccinated and get 2 doses of Pfizer/Biontech vaccine 1 month apart.

If you have had 2 doses of Pfizer/Biontech vaccine or 2 doses of Astra Zeneca vaccine, you will need a booster dose after 6 months.

It is appropriate to be revaccinated 2-3 months after a single dose of the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine.

“OUR CHILDREN HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE PROTECTED”

In the KTTB statement, it was stated that children over the age of 12 should receive 2 doses of Biontech vaccine, and it was warned that children could also have severe COVID-19 disease.

In the statement, “We must now start vaccinating our children over the age of 5 with the low-dose Pfizer/Biontech vaccine produced specifically for this age group. Our children also need and have the right to be protected.
