It has been reported that the United Nations (UN) is planning to hold a reception next week, as the new UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Cyprus and the Chief of Mission of the UN Peacekeeping Force (UNFICYP) in Cyprus, Colin Stewart, arrived on the island yesterday to take office.

According to the information obtained by the Greek Cypriot News Agency KİPE, it was stated that the reception has not been finalized yet, it will depend on the response of the leaders and whether they will attend the reception, as well as on epidemiological facts.

According to the planning, the newspaper wrote that the reception is planned to be held on Tuesday, 14 December at 19:00 and that 30-40 people will be invited to the reception due to the pandemic, and that apart from the two leaders, members of the negotiation groups of the two sides and the ambassadors of the UN Security Council Permanent Member countries will be invited to the reception. recorded.

It was stated that official invitations have not been sent yet, but the parties were aware of the UN's intention to bring the two leaders together due to Colin Stewart's arrival on the island.

The newspaper also wrote that Stewart will hold separate meetings with the two leaders at the end of this week and that a clearer picture will emerge in the meetings, and that Stewart will also meet with UN Peacekeepers stationed in Nicosia and other regions this week, as well as members of the Missing Persons Committee. On the other hand, reminding that President Ersin Tatar and Greek Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiadis held their last joint meeting in New York last September, within the framework of a working dinner organized by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, the newspaper stated that the two leaders have not had any further contact since then.
