Mayor of Lefke Aziz Kaya spoke to Kıbrıs Postası. Expressing that the municipality continues to work during the pandemic period, Kaya noted that there are extra expenses in addition to the expenses.

“WE HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY ILLEGAL”

Stating that during the coronavirus pandemic period, municipalities were cut for 3 months, and then they received an increase of 0.52 percent, Aziz Kaya said that the cost of living was around 25 percent. “We have suffered a serious injustice,” Kaya said. Kaya also said that the sense of justice was damaged by the injustice done.

“WE HAVE NOT BENEFIT FROM GRANTS FOR 4 YEARS”

Stating that municipalities put forward projects and receive grants in return, Mayor of Lefke Aziz Kaya stated that this practice is only for some municipalities. Kaya said, “As Lefke Municipality, we have not been able to benefit from grants for 4 years. We have a lot to take from the project in 2017," he said.

“GOVERNMENT DOES NOT CONTRIBUTE AND DOESN'T PAY WHAT IT NEEDS TO PAY”

Underlining that they have not been able to get water money from the state offices in the Lefke region for one and a half years, and that the revenues from the traffic fines have not fallen to the municipality, Kaya said, "The state does not both contribute and pay what it has to pay."

Noting that the municipality has 92 personnel and that the company established within the municipality has 33 personnel, Kaya stated that due to the currency crisis, fuel costs are an average of 100 thousand TL per month.

“I CANDIDATE”
