President Tatar, who took part in an online meeting with the Council of Turkish Cypriot Associations in the UK, underlined that a federal agreement is not possible in Cyprus.

Noting that he attaches great importance to Turkish Cypriots living abroad, Tatar stated that he appreciated the lobbying efforts that voiced the unfair isolation of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Also making a statement on the Cyprus issue, Tatar emphasized the importance of explaining why a solution on a federal basis is not possible.

“It is very important to explain to foreign missions that a treaty on a federal basis is not possible because the Greek Cypriot side does not want to share the administration on the basis of equality and has repeatedly rejected all plans and proposals presented to them” said Tatar.

He also emphasized that peace and stability can be maintained in Cyprus with the vision of cooperation between the two states living side by side based on sovereign equality.

Tatar added that this vision was also fully supported by Turkey.
