Pr. Tatar pleased with TR. Pr. Erdoğan’s statement on Cyprus
President Ersin Tatar expressed his pleasure at the stance displayed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding the Cyprus issue during the annual meeting of ambassadors of EU member states.
According to the statement made by the Presidency, Tatar stated that he was very pleased that the Turkish President Erdoğan had stated that everyone was aware why the negotiation process for the solution of the Cyprus issue, which has been going on for more than 50 years, had not been successful.
Tatar said that he was also pleased that his Turkish counterpart noted that the Greek Cypriots have been unable to rid themselves of the mentality that they are the sole owners of the island, disregarding the Turkish Cypriots.
Emphasizing that the new policy being carried out, which envisages the cooperation of two sovereign equal states in Cyprus is continuing in full harmony with Turkey, President Tatar said that he will continue to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the Turkish Cypriot people in the region with the support of Turkey.
