Ataoğlu: Initiatives are being made regarding the new airline company

Minister of Tourism and Culture, Fikri Ataoğlu, stated that attempts were made regarding the new airline company, as well as negotiations were made for alternative aircraft companies to enter the market and to decrease aircraft prices.

Tourism and Culture Minister Fikri Ataoğlu noted that the tourism industry is experiencing difficulties due to the pandemic, tradesmen and producers are also experiencing difficulties due to this, but now they are trying to increase their flights in order to leave the troubles behind, they make charter flights, and they take the necessary initiatives for tourists to go all over the country.

Ataoğlu stated that the Russia-Ukraine war caused problems in the arrival of tourists to the country, and they could not catch the number of tourists they expected, especially from the Russian market.

Noting that they are working to attract tourists to the Bafra region, and that they have taken the necessary initiatives with tour operators, Ataoğlu stated that they have completed the works for fast transportation between Famagusta-Bafra by sea or by land. Ataoğlu stated that the attempts for the construction of the Famagusta Marina and the renovation of the Girne Antique Harbor are continuing.

Ataoğlu said that attempts were made regarding the new airline company, as well as negotiations were made for the entry of alternative airline companies to the market and the decrease in aircraft prices, as well as the inclusion of TRNC flights from international routes into the domestic taxation system.

Noting that they took initiatives to bring the battlements under the command of the military in Famagusta into tourism, Ataoğlu stated that they were working on projects that would add diversity to the country's tourism, such as underwater diving events. Ataoğlu also informed the deputies about the other works of the ministry and answered their questions.
