Erhan Arıklı, Minister of Public Works and Transport, published a message on the occasion of 17 May World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, Arıklı stated that World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, which aims to raise awareness about closing the digital divide, is celebrated in the country as well as in the world, as well as the opportunities that the use of the internet and other information and communication technologies will provide for societies and economies.

Arıklı noted that they contributed to raising awareness about the closure of the digital gap referred to as the Ministry, and that they are also working hard to close the gap between the TRNC and the rest of the world in the field of telecommunication and information technologies.

Arıklı said, "In this context, restructuring the Telecommunication Department, ensuring the laying of fiber-optic infrastructure throughout the country, bringing fiber-optic internet infrastructure to every home and achieving digital transformation with the transition to 4.5/5G are among our main goals."

Arıklı said that the contribution of the officials and employees of the Information Technologies and Communications Authority and the Telecommunication Department to this process is undeniable, and said, "I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the employees of our two institutions on the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day with my sincere wishes and wish them success in their work."
