Prime Minister Ünal Üstel stated that within the framework of the Economic and Financial Cooperation Protocol signed with the Republic of Turkiye, the next process will also be to consult with Turkiye.

He stated that one of the main duties of the new coalition government is to increase the peoples’ level of welfare in order for them to be able to overcome these difficult times.

Speaking to the Anadolu News Agency after the coalition government of the National Unity Party (UBP), Democrat Party (DP) and Rebirth Party (YDP) received a vote of confidence; Prime Minister Üstel thanked all the deputies for their votes and stated that they will pave the way of the country, in cooperation with Turkiye which always supports the Turkish Cypriot people.

He also noted that they are preparing an economic package to open the way for the youth in the country and added that they will provide low-interest loans for young people who want to set up new businesses and purchase homes.

“This task is for me, my friends in the Council of Ministers, and the UBP, DP and YDP. We will do our best to get our country out of these difficult days. If necessary, we will work day and night. It is a difficult process,” he said.

Explaining that the pandemic has been continuing for over two years now, Üstel stated that there has been a recession and that the purchasing power of the people had decreased due to the pandemic and the fluctuation in foreign exchange rates.

Also referring to the Ukraine-Russia War which has had a negative impact on the world, Üstel said that they are also trying to overcome the problems caused by the war.

“Within the framework of the Economic and Financial Cooperation Protocol that we signed with our homeland, we will continue to consult with the Republic of Turkiye during the next phase as well. We will work to open the way for our people and increase their level of welfare” he said.
