Pr. Tatar calls on Greek Cypriot admin to stop cooperating with terrorists

resident Ersin Tatar has called on the Greek Cypriot Administration to abandon its approach that serves no purpose other than to increase regional tensions and that positions terrorism as a secret war tool.

Tatar also underlined that there is no difference between the PKK and the PYD/YPG terrorist organisations and that the distinctions made about the organizations in question have no meaning for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus state.

Issuing a written statement, President Ersin Tatar pointed out that the new global security needs that emerged with the Ukraine-Russia war has brought the search for new regional and global security cooperation to the agenda.

He stated that with Sweden and Finland’s application for NATO membership, the activities and presence of the PKK and PYD/YPG terrorist organization in some European Union member countries, especially in Sweden, were revealed by Motherland Türkiye.

Türkiye provided the documentation showing how the PKK and PYD/YPG posed a threat to security.

Noting that Türkiye had made it clear that if its security concerns are not addressed in a certain timeframe, then the NATO membership process of Sweden and Finland could not proceed; Tatar emphasized once again that it is important for countries that inhabit terrorist organizations to take immediate steps to eliminate the threats of terrorist organizations that pose a threat to global peace.

Explaining that the PYD, the political arm of the PKK, came to the agenda again after the Greek Cypriot Administration gave permission for it to open a representative office in South Cyprus in January; Tatar said that it is useful to draw attention to the risks in this context regarding the security of the country and the region.

“I would like to underline that there is no difference between the PKK and the PYD/YPG, which are on the list of terrorist organizations with the decision of our Republics Assembly, and that the distinctions made by others regarding the organizations in question have no meaning for the TRNC state” said Tatar and added that the stance of the TRNC regarding the different forms, names, shapes and dimensions of PKK terrorism that have undergone transformation is as clear as ever.

“When the reports on the PYD/YPG terrorist organisation prepared by organizations such as Amnesty International and the International Human Rights Organization are carefully examined, the war crimes committed by this terrorist organization in the regions they control in Syria and the crimes against humanity committed against Turkmens, Arabs and Kurds are crystal clear” said Tatar and added that the flow of ammunition, intelligence and militants between PKK and PYD/YPG terrorist organizations has been documented on several occasions.

“The Greek Cypriot Administration, which supported terrorism by giving the terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan a Diplomatic “Republic of Cyprus” passport under the supervision of the Greek Intelligence Organization personnel, using the alias “Lazaros Mavros” so that he could wander around and escape, has today allowed a terrorist organisation to open a representative office, and has therefore betrayed global peace” said Tatar.

He called on the Greek Cypriot Administration to abandon this approach, which serves no purpose other than to increase regional tension.

He stated that this same mentality had their clergymen giving firing drills, supported the EOKA terrorist organisation that is sworn to destroy the Turkish presence on the island and connect the island to Greece and realize ENOSIS, praised the establishment of the bloody terrorist organization EOKA, allowed the Neo-Nazi Fascist ELAM organization to enter ‘parliament’ and supported the structuring of the aforementioned terrorist organization.

“It proves once again that the most realistic solution for the two peoples on the island is to live side by side in their own states, on their own lands, with good neighbourly relations” said Tatar and reiterated his call to the Greek Cypriot administration to re-evaluate its relations with terrorist organisations that threaten global peace.
