The Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Dursun Oğuz who is holding a variety of contacts in the Turkish capital Ankara, met with his Turkish counterpart Vahit Kirişci.

According to a statement made by the Ministry, many issues, especially ongoing water projects were discussed during their meeting and the two ministries agreed to start working together on projects that would allow the efficient use of water and land resources of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

It was also stated that there is serious potential for the secondary use of the water that is pumped out of the treatment plant in the TRNC and that they had come to an agreement to develop this potential.

During the meeting, they also discussed a project that would allow the drinking, utility and agricultural water in the TRNC to reach the public as soon as possible.

The implementation of the Integrated Farmer Information System in the TRNC, which is one of the provisions of the Economic and Financial Cooperation Agreement signed between the two countries and the fact that this system serves to reach a more effective structure in the registration and planning of agricultural activities was also evaluated.

A decision was also taken to work together so the TRNC can benefit more from solar and wind energies.
