The Council of Ministers convened in İskele this week in line with a decision taken by the current government to hold a cabinet meeting outside of Lefkoşa every two weeks.

Speaking to the press after the meeting which lasted for over two hours, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said that the development in the İskele area was growing fast and that work was being carried out on how the district’s master plan could be brought to lift.

“What we have done is we have created a fund which will be used to create and expand the area’s infrastructure. Money that will be collected in this fund will be used to complete infrastructure projects for roads, water and sewage,” he said.

Meanwhile, the cabinet also held meetings with mukhtars from the İskele and Karpaz areas.
