The number of people migrating to the UK reaches an all-time high
The highest net migration figure to date was recorded in the UK, with 504 thousand more people arriving in the country than those leaving the country between June 2021 and June 2022.
According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), 504 thousand more people arrived in the UK last year than those who left the country, breaking the record 390,000 recorded in 2015.
It is stated that the total number of people who came to the UK in the period of June 2021-June 2022, when the number of immigrants reached the highest level of all time, was 1.1 million.
On the other hand, during the same period, 45,000 British citizens left the UK.

Jay Lindop, Director of the ONS International Center for Migration, said that the increase was due to the large number of refugees from Afghanistan, Hong Kong and Ukraine who were granted the right to live in the country.
Lindop reported that factors such as the increase in the arrival of international students studying distance learning to the UK during the epidemic and the migration of people for family reasons also contributed to the increase.
Jay Lindop said, "A series of global developments affected international migration patterns in the 12-month period to June 2022. Taken together, these were unprecedented events." he said.
The British government has promised to reduce the gap between the number of people entering and leaving the country.
