Ersin Tatar: We are ready for any kind of well-intentioned approach, but this approach is based on respecting our policy
President Ersin Tatar, today, the British and Canadian High Commissioners; Stating that after the election of the new Greek Cypriot leader, they visited him to exchange views on the "possibility of a new movement" on the Cyprus issue, he stated that as the Turkish Cypriot side, they are ready for any kind of well-intentioned approach. He emphasized that the new policy of the Turkish Cypriot side is based on “sovereign equality and equal international status”.
President Tatar made statements regarding his separate meetings with both British High Commissioner Irfan Siddiq and Canadian High Commissioner Karine Asselin.
President Tatar stated that the new Greek Cypriot leader, Nikos Christodoulidis, "doesn't actually say anything different" about Cyprus and said, "I don't see a new horizon."
President Tatar stated that he held talks with the Canadian High Commissioner and then the British High Commissioner, and said:
“Currently, I see that they are in search of some new searches such as 'Can there be a movement on the Cyprus issue' when they say the election of the new Greek Cypriot leader and the elections in Turkey. They are constantly exchanging ideas about mediation, what can be done and how the Cyprus issue can develop. Our position is clear and unequivocal: we are pursuing a new policy. The Republic of Turkey has full support for this policy.”
