Independence Path Distributes Statements at Prime Ministry Lights
Independence Path (BY) displayed a banner with the message "Freedom of Expression is Our Honor" at the Prime Ministry lights this moprning while simultaneously distributing statements.
The action was organized to bring attention to the trial of journalist Ali Kişmir, who is facing a 10-year prison sentence and is currently under trial in the Heavy Penal Court. The public is invited to attend the trial scheduled for Monday, November 27.
In a statement released by Independence Path, it emphasized that the trial is indicative of a larger issue, portraying it as an attempt to intimidate, suppress, and silence the Turkish Cypriot people. The statement concluded by highlighting the precarious situation in a country where individuals can be judged for their thoughts, stating that in such an environment, no one is truly safe.
