Akar: We closely follow all developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and Cyprus
T.R. Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar said, "We are doing what we have to do within the framework of international law, within the framework of good neighborly relations in the Aegean, Eastern Mediterranean and Cyprus."
Hulusi Akar, Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey, emphasized that they closely follow all developments in the north of Iraq and Syria, the Aegean, the Eastern Mediterranean and Cyprus; He noted that whatever needs to be done will be done when the time and place comes, as it has been until now.
Underlining that there is never any question of making concessions or giving up the struggle, Akar said, "It is our duty to protect the rights of our noble nation and every bit of its law."
Stating that they followed the reports they received on these issues instantly, Akar said, “Whatever needs to be done to protect and safeguard our rights and interests will be done in the same way when the time and place comes, as has been done under the leadership of our President. Let no one doubt that. There is never any question of making any concessions, of giving up the struggle. It is our duty to protect the rights of our noble nation and every particle of its law. Whatever needs to be done about it, we have done so far, and we will continue to do so."
Regarding the terrorist organization PKK/YPG attacks carried out from the north of Syria, Akar accompanied by Chief of General Staff Yaşar Güler, Land Forces Commander General Musa Avsever, Naval Forces Commander Admiral Adnan Özbal, Air Forces Commander General Hasan Küçükakyüz and Deputy Minister Yunus Emre Karaosmanoğlu. Defense University attended the opening ceremony of the 2021-2022 Academic Year, held an evaluation meeting with the administrative and military management staff of MSU on military and academic education and training activities.
Speaking at the meetings, Akar stated that there are serious developments and changes in the world and in the region, especially in defense and security issues. Stating that they followed these closely and took all kinds of measures, Akar stated that Turkey became a subject in the international environment under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Reminding the agreements made with the USA and Russia regarding northern Syria, Akar said:
"As Turkey, we take our part in the agreements seriously and implement them carefully. We fulfill our responsibilities there. Likewise, we do what we have to do within the framework of international law, in good neighborly relations in the Aegean, Eastern Mediterranean and Cyprus. We are committed to peace and dialogue. "We are in favor of talking, talking, meeting. On the other hand, we said that we will not allow any fait accompli, and we continue to say it. We are determined, determined and capable of this."
Touching on the recent developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, Akar made the following statements:
"Some countries in Europe are trying to take a role in the Eastern Mediterranean in a way that is beyond their size and power. These things are beyond them. They should know that they will not get anywhere. NATO is a defense organization. While there are allies here, those in it also make alliances, and it is the defense of the EU. "They will divide both NATO and NATO. They see this. But some countries do not pay attention to these because of their egos or the political ambitions of their leaders, they harm both NATO and the EU and endanger the security of all of Europe."
