Kıbrıs Postası confirmed the allegations: A military naval base will be established in Karpaz

According to the Kıbrıs Postası's confirmation from reliable sources within the government, 108 acres of land belonging to the Foundations Administration in Dipkarpaz will be used for a military naval base, which has been talked about for a while and was also reflected in the Turkish media.

It has been spoken for a while that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), which opened Geçitkale Airport to the use of UAVs/SİHAs, would build a naval base on the island for the Turkish Armed Forces.

It was also reflected in the media that "ground analyzes" were made on this subject.

It is stated that the establishment of a naval base in the TRNC will accelerate the maintenance-repair-supply support of the ships serving in the region, as well as the faster transfer of the warships accompanying the drilling ships in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Land owned by foundations is not for rent. For this reason, there is no "reason for use" written in the contract.

108 acres of land is allocated for 30 years of use…

Some environmentalists claim that the land in question is within the Special Environmental Protection Area.

The steps taken to embody the idea of 'establishing a naval base in the TRNC', which Turkey has always been careful not to escalate, is seen as one of the most important signs of a new process in the blue homeland.
According to the experts of the subject, the steps taken simultaneously in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean are a sign of determination.

The said decision of the Council of Ministers is as follows:

"In the light of what was stated in the proposal, the Council of Ministers, in accordance with the decision of the Foundations Administration and Religious Affairs Executive Board, dated September 21, 2021 and numbered K/112/2021, the Foundations located within the borders of the Dipkarpaz village of Iskele, specified in the map attached to the proposal, and detailed information is given in the table below. Considering that the properties belonging to his administration will be used for military purposes, he decided to give them to the TRNC Security Forces Command for a period of 30 years without any rental fee."
