According to the statement made by the Presidency, President Ersin Tatar, who issued a message on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the 28 November 1948 rally, said, "With the guarantor of the Motherland Turkey, we will not give up on the Turkish soldiers, we will not return to the dark days of pre-1974."

Tatar's message is as follows:

"With the leasing of Cyprus to England in 1878, while the Greek-Greek duo's demands for Enosis came to the fore, the Turkish Cypriot people also embarked on a great struggle against the escalation of these demands after the 1931 Greek uprising and the Second World War. One of the important turning points of this struggle is , is the great rally where the Turkish Cypriot people stood up as a whole and held against the demands of Enosis in Nicosia on November 28, 1948. Speaking at this rally, our leader of the struggle for freedom and independence Dr. Fazıl Küçük and our Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş said, 'Whatever happens to the Turkish Cypriot people? While he stated that he would not consent to Enosis at any cost, our people who attended the rally exclaimed, "Cyprus cannot be Greek." While this rally showed the determination of the Turkish Cypriot people with the will to resist, we continue our struggle with the same determination. 73 years have passed since this rally. Despite this, our struggle continues, and we have won at the cost of blood and life. We shout to the world that we will not give up our sovereignty, freedom and state. With the guarantee of motherland Turkey, we will not give up on Turkish soldiers, we will not return to the dark days of pre-1974. Our people; The Greek Cypriots will not be a minority, they will continue to live freely, sovereignly and fearlessly in their own homeland, under the roof of their own state. Today, as our people cried at the 28 November 1948 rally, we are shouting again; Cyprus will not be Greek."
