Economy and Energy Minister Sunat Atun spoke to Kıbrıs Postası on his way back after extensive Ankara contacts.

Minister Sunat Atun said "we have made significant progress" but did not give details.

Minister Atun stated that despite our insistence, he would explain the "important progress" through a press conference.

Speaking to the Cyprus Post, Atun said, "Our main concern is the consumer, the market and the foreign exchange risk of the market... TL in imports and exports... We have made significant progress, we will explain."

Reminding that the "dollar" is used as a value in the Financial Protocols signed with Turkey, and being asked if there has been any development in this regard, he said that this situation is a separate issue in the financial protocols.

Atun said that at the meeting held with the Minister of Commerce of the Republic of Turkey, Mehmet Muş, it was primarily discussed to ensure the use of TL in all products coming from the TRNC to Turkey.

Pointing out that the TRNC is an effective TL region, Atun said, "In an environment where mutual trade is predominantly made in TL, some products should not be invoiced in foreign currency in the TRNC while they are sold in TL to the Turkish domestic market, this is very important for commercial predictability and price stability."
