Kubilay Özkıraç, President of the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Corporation Employees Union (El-Sen), stated that they objected to the minimum wage.

In his written statement, Özkıraç noted that it is not possible for a family of 4 to sustain a humane life with a monthly minimum wage of 7,000,00 TL, which was determined recently by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission and published in the Official Gazette.

Özkıraç stated that for these reasons, they objected to the newly determined 7 thousand TL gross minimum wage.

Expressing that the minimum wage, which was 515 pounds sterling 10 years ago, should still be 8,240 TL today, Kubilay Özkıraç also demanded that the cost of living be applied every two months and that it will come into effect as of January 1, 2022.
