An informal working group on halloumi was established by the European Commission.

The Working Group will ensure the exchange of knowledge, as well as the sharing of experience and good practices among stakeholders regarding their participation in the PDO for halloumi program, and will review the operation of the control system for halloumi.

The group will consist of a maximum of ten members to be elected in equal numbers from the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities.

Its members will be persons appointed to represent the common achievement, such as representatives of chambers of commerce, farmer organizations or halloumi factory representatives, representatives of professional organizations and non-governmental organizations. The group will meet at regular intervals.

The commission started to accept applications from individuals to become a member of the group.
