The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre said on Thursday that Maraş was TRNC soil and the fenced-off town needed to be reopened to settlement through applications to be made to the Immovable Property Commission.

Receiving members of the Turkish-Arab Friendship Society which are in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for contacts, Töre said that Maraş was much more than buildings and the town’s coastline was extremely important in terms of the Blue Homeland Doctrine.

He also said that Turkiye and the Turkish Cypriot side should never make the mistake of letting down their guard on the Cyprus Issue.

“Cyprus could become another Crete,” he warned.

The parliamentary speaker also underlined the need for more solidarity among Muslim countries.
