The Ministry said that that the support given by the Greek Cypriot side openly demonstrated its policy that the “enemy of my enemy is my friend”.

In a written statement issued on Sunday, the TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the open support given to the PKK Terrorist Organisation by the Greek Cypriot administration revealed how insincere its calls for peace on the island were.

It said that Lazaras Mavros, whose name was on the fake Greek Cypriot passport found in the possession of the head of the PKK Terrorist Organisation Abdullah Öcalan when he was captured, was shown brandishing a weapon during a military exercise in the south.

“We strongly condemn this action which was carried out within the framework of recent provocative military exercises conducted by the Greek Cypriot side, including the weapons training given to priests,” the statement said.

It pointed out that the Greek Cypriot administration which has been doing everything to hurt Turkish national interests and incite hatred against Turks was insincere in its call to construct a future of peace and prosperity on the island.

“Such actions by the Greek Cypriot administration are not only disrupting peace and stability in the region but also deepening mistrust between the two sides. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is determined to protect its political rights and interests with its sole protector, motherland Türkiye,” the foreign ministry statement read.
