The 20th of July Peace and Freedom Day was also celebrated in Güzelyurt. The Mayor of Güzelyurt, Mahmut Özçınar, also attended the ceremony held in front of the Atatürk Monument in Güzelyurt at 11:00 this morning.
According to the information given by the Güzelyurt Municipality, in the ceremony that started with the laying of wreaths on the monument in accordance with the protocol, flags were hoisted to the accompaniment of the National Anthem, after a minute of silence.
The ceremony in Güzelyurt continued in front of the museum with the inspection of the ceremonial units by the protocol. The ceremony ended with the official parade, which also included speeches and poems describing the independence struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people.
