Inflation in Belgium rose to 11.27 percent in September, the highest level measured since 1975. The Belgian Statistical Institute (Statbel) has released the country's inflation data for September.

According to the data, inflation in Belgium, which was 9.94 percent in August, rose to 11.27 in September. Thus, inflation in the country saw the highest measured level since August 1975. In Belgium, inflation was measured at the level of 11.42 percent 47 years ago.

Core inflation in the country rose to 6.21 percent in September. The most significant price increases in September were in electricity, natural gas, clothing, alcoholic beverages, heating oil, cafes and restaurants, travel, vehicle purchases and rents.

The main reason for the rise in inflation in the country was energy. The price increase in energy products reached 60.54 percent. The contribution of energy products to September inflation was 5.39 percent. Compared to 1 year ago in September, the price of natural gas increased by 134.9 percent, the electricity price by 81.3 percent and the price of heating oil by 56.3 percent in Belgium in September.
