Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu stated that the number of people who lost their lives due to floods in Şanlıurfa and Adıyaman has reached 18.

In Şanlıurfa and Adıyaman, the cities hit by the earthquake where tens of thousands of people lost their lives and millions of people were forced to live in harsh conditions such as tents and container cities, heavy rains effective from the night of 14 March caused flooding.

Providing information on the latest situation in the region after the flood, where search and rescue efforts were carried out in many regions, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu stated that 2 people in Adıyaman and 16 people in Şanlıurfa lost their lives due to the flood.

Highlights from Soylu's statements are as follows:

"Until the morning, 4 million cubic meters of water has been discharged. We are constantly checking it. We have also started to treat it here. The water is being purified now. I would like to say to our citizens. It will continue until 05:00 in the next morning. When we come to a point, we will put it into the system at 05.00 in the morning. In the meantime, we have brought over 100 tankers. We have brought new water pumps, they are working.

Congratulations to our friends. They assessed the risk well and turned off the water on time. They gave all of them to the relevant channels and as of now, it has come to the water treatment system here.

We have a sadness. With a provocative approach, he claimed that unfortunately, with a disinformation, the water was mixed with sewage and there was a problem with the water. Exploiting people's hard times is something only those who have no fear of God will do. Revealing these assessments is not journalism, it is clowning. May our fellow citizens of Şanlıurfa rest in peace. We will make drinking water supplements as much as possible. Our Metropolitan Municipality and Governorship will make the necessary explanations.
