Shedding light on the number of voters, Şefik stated that there were 209,837 registered voters, which increased by 1,601 compared to the previous election held on December 25th.

Regarding the elimination of mixed voting, Şefik mentioned that amendments were made to articles 101 and 136. She expressed that in the previous elections, more than 60% of mixed votes were considered invalid, indicating that something had to be done about mixed voting.

While acknowledging that this was a regrettable situation for those who preferred mixed voting, Şefik emphasized that the invalidation of over 60% of the votes cast showed that the will of the ballot box was not reflected in the election results.

Regarding the number of ballot boxes, Şefik stated that as there was only one parliamentary seat to be elected, district election boards were attempting to reduce the number of ballot boxes to obtain results earlier. She noted that official figures on the number of ballot boxes would be available between May 22nd and 24th.

Şefik also reminded that political parties that want to participate in the elections must announce their candidates by May 31st. She recalled that there were around 700 ballot boxes in the previous election and that the number of ballot boxes might decrease by up to 30%.
