Alithia newspaper, in an article titled "Consolidation of the Occupation with Great Speed - New Cities Rising in Ayios Sergios and Trikomo," highlighted the rapid urbanization and construction frenzy observed in the Ayios Sergios (Yeniboğaziçi) and Trikomo (İskele) regions of Northern Cyprus. The article emphasized that this situation poses a significant obstacle to resolving the property issue, which is an integral part of the Cyprus problem.

The newspaper reported that investments in the mentioned region have exceeded $2.5 billion, with information suggesting the construction of towers similar to those in Limassol. Referring to information from the Turkish Cypriot media, the article claimed that a significant portion of these constructions were built on Greek Cypriot-owned land.

These developments, coupled with the stalemate in the negotiations for a solution to the Cyprus problem, have angered Greek Cypriot immigrants. The newspaper asserted that frustrated immigrants, feeling a sense of hopelessness, have been resorting to the Immovable Property Commission in Northern Cyprus. It further argued that Greek Cypriot immigrants feel deceived and manipulated by these circumstances.
