New 'sanctions' planned for Southern Cyprus, expected to be announced on Friday
As a result of Russia's aggression towards Ukraine, a new list of sanctions targeting Southern Cyprus is expected to be announced by the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union (EU).
It has been reported that a new sanctions package, excluding Cypriot Greek individuals and legal entities involved in cooperation with Russian oligarchs, has been prepared. Consequently, an announcement of a new list is anticipated within the framework of the sanctions imposed by the US, UK, and EU.
According to the Alithia newspaper, the 11th sanctions package, which includes the names of 72 individuals and 31 legal entities or companies, has started to be discussed at the EU Permanent Representatives Committee.
The newspaper stated that foreign media reports have announced the inclusion of 72 individuals and 31 companies in the said list, while it was reported that the US and the UK are expected to announce the new sanctions list concerning individuals and entities in Southern Cyprus on Friday.
