Scattered showers expected today
The Meteorology Department has forecasted scattered showers for today, with occasional showers or thunderstorms expected over the weekend.
According to the weekly weather report covering May 18-24, the region will experience warm and humid conditions under a low-pressure system, resulting in rainy days influenced by cool and moist air masses in the upper atmosphere.
Today's weather will be mostly clear, becoming partly cloudy with scattered showers in the afternoon.
Saturday may bring scattered showers or thunderstorms, while Sunday is expected to have locally effective showers until noon, followed by partly cloudy skies early next week.
Temperatures will range from 26-29 ºC in the inland areas and coastal regions.
Winds will be moderate, initially from the south and west and later shifting to the north and east, with the possibility of gusty winds resembling a storm on Thursday.
