Taking to his personal social media account, Girne Mayor Şenkul shared the news of the decline in unauthorized water usage rates. He highlighted that when he took office in December 2022, the rate stood at around 58%, but it has now fallen to the 39% mark.

"THE RATE OF UNAUTHORIZED WATER USAGE REMAINS HIGH"

Mayor Şenkul underscored that the rate of unauthorized water usage is still significantly high, stating, "Our goal is to reduce this rate to the 15% range by the end of our second term in office."

Şenkul further added, "The first phase of our mission was to decrease unauthorized usage within the city, and we have made considerable progress in that regard. Now, our focus is on conducting operations on the main network lines to bring uncontrolled usage under control and transition to a remotely controlled metering system."

The efforts of Girne Municipality under Mayor Murat Şenkul's leadership have led to a notable reduction in unauthorized water usage. However, the mayor aims to further decrease this rate and implement more efficient control mechanisms to ensure responsible and sustainable water consumption in the region.
