54 Vehicles Detained from Traffic During Police Inspections in Northern Cyprus

Police in Northern Cyprus conducted simultaneous security and traffic inspections in Gazimağusa, Girne, and Güzelyurt yesterday evening, resulting in the detention of 54 vehicles from traffic.

According to a statement from the Police Press Officer, entertainment venues, places selling alcoholic beverages, nightclubs, and coffeehouses were inspected in Gazimağusa, but no negative findings were discovered. However, nine people were identified in casino inspections who were prohibited from entering and staying in the casino, and legal proceedings were initiated against them. Traffic inspections resulted in the checking of 817 drivers, and legal action was initiated against a total of 113 drivers for various traffic offenses. Of the 113 drivers, one was driving under the influence of alcohol, and 18 vehicles were exceeding the legal speed limit. Thirteen vehicles were detained from traffic.

In Girne, inspections included checking entertainment venues and crowded places, resulting in the arrest of one person for illegal residency. Legal proceedings were initiated against one business that did not follow the closure time. Thirty-nine people were identified in casino inspections who were prohibited from entering and staying in casinos, and legal proceedings were initiated against them. Traffic inspections resulted in the checking of 1,050 drivers, and legal action was initiated against 268 drivers for various traffic offenses. Of the 268 drivers, seven were driving under the influence of alcohol, and 82 vehicles were exceeding the legal speed limit. Thirty-seven vehicles were detained from traffic.

In Güzelyurt, the inspections included checking places that sell alcoholic beverages and crowded places, and no negative findings were discovered. Traffic inspections resulted in the checking of 425 drivers, and legal action was initiated against 89 drivers for various traffic offenses. Of the 89 drivers, one was driving under the influence of alcohol, and 32 vehicles were exceeding the legal speed limit. Four vehicles were detained from traffic, and one driver was arrested.

Overall, the inspections were conducted to ensure safety and compliance with the law.
