Candidates to apply for parliamentary and local organization by-elections
According to the election schedule announced by the High Election Board, candidates for the "Parliamentary and Local Organization By-Elections" to be held on June 25th in Northern Cyprus will apply to the High Election Board and district election boards tomorrow.
Under the election schedule, candidates from political parties will submit their applications to the High Election Board, while independent candidates will apply to their respective district election boards during working hours.
For the by-election for a vacant parliamentary seat, coalition government partners the National Unity Party (UBP) will field Ali Başman, the Democratic Party (DP) will field Serhan Aktunç, and the Rebirth Party (YDP) will field Figen Yaman Lesinger, while the main opposition Republican Turkish Party (CTP) has announced Sami Özuslu as their candidate.
Outside of parliament, the Social Democratic Party (TDP) announced Tacan Reynar as its candidate, while the Independence Path (BY) announced Umut Ersoy as their candidate. Abdullah Korkmazhan, Meriç Erülkü, Çetin Sadeli, and Talip Sancar have also announced that they will run as independent candidates in the election.
