Renowned Czech-born French writer Milan Kundera has passed away at the age of 94.
The writer, poet, translator, and playwright Milan Kundera has passed away at the age of 94.
Born in 1929 in Czechoslovakia, Milan Kundera received education in literature and aesthetics at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Charles University.
After joining the Communist Party at the end of World War II, Kundera was expelled from the party in 1948. He rejoined the Communist Party in 1956 but was once again expelled from the party in 1976, along with famous figures like Václav Havel.
In 1981, he became a French citizen.
His works, including "The Unbearable Lightness of Being," "Ignorance," "The Joke," "Immortality," and "Laughable Loves," have left a significant mark on world literature. Kundera's most recent publication was the book "Encounter" in 2009.
