Turgut Akçın, President of the Northern Cyprus Citrus Producers Association, emphasised that they are against hunters entering their gardens and asked the Minister of Interior to take the necessary measures in this regard.

Stating that every year the debate "Will the government open the gardens to hunting?" comes to the agenda, Akçın said that it would be a very wrong decision to open the gardens to hunting at a time when the olive and carob harvest has started and the fruit and vegetable harvest continues.

In his written statement, Akçın called out to the government, saying, "Do not confront the producers with hunters."

Akçın said that there were people shot in the gardens opened for hunting in the past years, the windows of some houses were broken, dogs damaged irrigation tyres and there were hundreds of complaints from producers on this issue.
