Primary Schools in Northern Cyprus Start New Academic Year

Approximately 25,000 students attending 126 public and private schools under the Primary Education Department, about 23,000 middle school and high school students studying in 48 public and private schools under the General Secondary Education Department, and around 4,000 vocational high school students in 12 schools under the Vocational Technical Education Department, as well as about 400 students in the Taner Akcan Apprenticeship and Adult Education Center, are beginning the new school year.

There are approximately 6,000 teachers working in public and private schools across Northern Cyprus. The first semester report card distribution will take place on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, with the mid-term break scheduled from February 1 to February 15.

The second semester will start on Friday, February 16. The school year will conclude with the distribution of report cards and completion certificates on Friday, June 14. The College Entrance Exam, Phase 1 (KGS-1), will be held on Saturday, January 27, while Phase 2 (KGS-2) will take place on Saturday, June 8.

The Bülent Ecevit Anatolian High School and July 20 Science High School Placement Exam will be held on Saturday, June 22.

Applications for vocational high school programs for students who have completed the 8th grade will be accepted from June 20 to June 25, and placements for 9th-grade vocational high school students will be announced on Wednesday, June 26.

The Lefkoşa Anatolian Fine Arts High School Entrance Exam will be held on June 20-21.
