On the first day of the new school year, KTOEÖS organized a warning strike at Iskele Bekirpaşa High School from 08:00 to 11:00. The reasons for the strike were cited as the issue of foreign students at the school, the lack of principal and vice-principal positions, and the transition to full-day education.

In her statement about the strike, KTOEÖS President Selma Eylem explained that transfers for the principal and vice-principal positions at the school had not been made, and the number of foreign students, which was over 200 last year, had increased to approximately 80 with new registrations this year.

Eylem pointed out that students who don't speak any Turkish pose significant challenges at the school. She stated that Turkish language and literature teachers were forced to teach Turkish to these foreign children, but emphasized that this requires expertise.

The Secretary-General of the union, Tahir Gökçebel, also claimed that the Minister of National Education, Nazım Çavuşoğlu, is trying to eliminate the contemporary and secular education system.

Gökçebel further argued that the necessary infrastructure is not in place for the transition to full-day education.
