Increase in Agricultural Product Prices Observed in the South
It has been reported that agricultural product prices in Southern Cyprus increased during the second quarter of this year, covering April-May-June, according to data from the European Statistics Office Eurostat.
Southern Cyprus witnessed an increase in agricultural product prices during the second quarter of this year (April-May-June), based on data from the European Statistics Office Eurostat. The Alithia newspaper noted that this increase in prices in Southern Cyprus remained consistent with the figures for the same period in the European Union in 2022.
The newspaper emphasized that while agricultural product prices in the European Union increased by 2% between the second quarters of 2022 and 2023, Southern Cyprus recorded a 13% increase during the same periods.
The newspaper reported that citrus fruits, olive oil, and potatoes were among the products with the highest price increases in the European Union, while in Southern Cyprus, the highest price increases were observed in fresh vegetables at 38%, vegetables and fruits at 29%, citrus fruits at 27%, and milk at 20%.
Furthermore, the newspaper mentioned a 30% decrease in potato prices and a 10% decrease in cereal prices.
In the same context, the Haravgi newspaper reported that fertilizer prices in Southern Cyprus also increased by 40%.
