Doğuş Derya: Ersin Tatar Was Appointed Not to Be Interested in Cyprus Negotiations
CTP Deputy and President of the CTP Women's Organization, Doğuş Derya, emphasized that three women report to the Police Violence Intervention Unit every day and stated that there are women who do not report. She also discussed the Cyprus issue, claiming that President Ersin Tatar was "appointed" not to be interested in Cyprus negotiations.
In an interview on Kıbrıs Postası TV's program 'Sabah Postası', Doğuş Derya, a CTP Deputy and President of the CTP Women's Organization, addressed several issues, including violence against women, the Cyprus problem, and changes to educational textbooks.
Derya began by commenting on the recent "fake prescription" scandal, highlighting the need for proper procedures to prevent corruption and misconduct in the healthcare sector. She criticized the state of laws and procedures in the country, emphasizing the importance of adhering to ethical and legal standards.
Regarding the Cyprus problem, Derya questioned whether the issue had truly been resolved and suggested that President Ersin Tatar's position had eroded Turkey's diplomatic relations. She noted that the UN Security Council's five permanent members have long agreed that a federal solution is the most suitable for Cyprus and highlighted the need for a solution in line with international norms.
Derya accused Turkey of using Cyprus and the Turkish Cypriot people as bargaining chips in its energy negotiations. She also pointed out that Turkey is currently facing a severe economic crisis and emphasized the importance of a political solution to the Cyprus problem for economic development.
Derya criticized President Tatar for not showing interest in Cyprus negotiations, claiming that he was "appointed" to avoid involvement in the process. She noted that there had been no diplomatic contact with Tatar since his election.
On the topic of corruption investigations, Derya argued that those who do not want a solution to the Cyprus problem benefit from keeping Northern Cyprus outside of international law. She also discussed changes to educational textbooks and emphasized the need for a diverse and inclusive education system.
Regarding violence against women, Derya stated that three women report to the Police Violence Intervention Unit daily, but there are women who do not report. She called for better support systems and emphasized the importance of protecting citizens in a social state.
