Suspects in Fake Prescription Investigation Released on Bail
In the ongoing investigation into fake prescriptions, suspects S.T. (doctor), Ö.T. (pharmacist), and E.T. (pharmacist) have been released on bail with the conditions of a cash deposit of 50,000 TL each and a bail bond of 500,000 TL each, as well as a weekly check-in requirement at the police station. They will face trial without detention.
Police Inspector Deputy Cemali Çiftci stated that between January and August 2023, pharmacists Ö.T. and E.T., with the assistance of doctor S.T., were found to have fraudulently obtained money from the Social Insurance Department by falsely indicating that their customers had purchased medications that they had not actually received, with the intent to defraud.
Çiftçi mentioned that during the investigation process, it was determined that the suspects had falsified many prescriptions. Nevertheless, they have been granted bail.
Prosecutor Hasan Boşnak requested that the suspects be banned from traveling abroad, their identification and passports be confiscated, and they be subjected to weekly police check-ins, cash deposits, and bail bonds as part of their bail conditions.
Judge Zehra Yalkut Bilgeç ordered that the suspects' travel documents be confiscated, prohibiting them from traveling abroad. She also imposed a weekly check-in requirement with the police, a cash deposit of 50,000 TL each, and a bail bond of 500,000 TL each as conditions for their release on bail.
