AKEL Secretary General Meets with Russian Ambassador
Stefanos Stefanu, the Secretary General of AKEL (Progressive Party of Working People), held a meeting with Russia's Ambassador to South Cyprus, Murat Zyazikov.
According to Haravgi newspaper, they shared the view that negotiations on the Cyprus issue should resume from where they left off in 2017, during the Crans Montana talks.
The newspaper reported that international matters, especially those related to the Middle East, were discussed in addition to the Cyprus issue during the meeting between Stefanu and Zyazikov.
Regarding the Cyprus issue, the Russian Ambassador reiterated Russia's unchanging position, based on UN resolutions, for a resolution to the Cyprus problem that is founded on political equality, a bizonal, bicommunal federation.
Zyazikov also emphasized the need for dialogue as the means to find solutions to the challenges facing humanity.
