Hunting Season Begins on October 29

Hunting season is set to begin on Sunday, October 29. During the hunting season, hunters will be able to hunt for 13 days.

According to information from the TRNC Hunting Federation, the hunting days for the season are designated as October 29; November 5, 12, 19, 26; December 3, 10, 17, 24, 27, and 31; and January 3 and 7, 2024.

During the hunting season, hunters are permitted to hunt hare, partridge, quail, wood pigeon, thrush, quail, collared dove, stone curlew, pheasant, magpie, and jackdaw.

For the season, a hunter may hunt a maximum of 1 hare, 5 partridge, or quail, 8 thrush, 5 quail, 8 pheasant, and 20 magpies, for a total of up to 40 game animals for each designated hunting day. It should be noted that walking dogs in hunting areas open after October 18, 2023, is prohibited. However, after this date, dogs may be walked in areas where hunting is prohibited. Additionally, it is emphasized that after October 29, walking dogs in hunting areas within villages will also be prohibited.

Hunting Prohibited Areas

During the season, aside from the areas permanently marked as hunting protection zones and closed to hunting on the hunting map, it is also prohibited to hunt or capture any game animals or wild birds, or chase them within a radius of 500 meters from dams and ponds, 250 meters from residential areas, 300 meters from picnic areas, 200 meters from rocky areas marked with the TRNC flag over Taşkent village, 200 meters from the Taşkent Nature Park, 200 meters from the Central Prison buildings, 200 meters from the Haspolat Treatment Facilities, 200 meters from all shooting ranges, 200 meters from the New Ercan Airport runway, 200 meters from universities, 200 meters from officially designated barn areas, 200 meters from Muratağa, Atlılar, and Sandallar martyrdoms and massacre pits, and 300 meters or closer to the Eleoussa Monastery in hunting area number 2.
