Electricity Tariffs See Over 30% Increase!

Kıb-Tek, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Electricity Authority, has announced an increase of approximately 31% in both single-rate and three-rate electricity tariffs starting from tomorrow.

According to the statement released by Kıb-Tek, there will be no increase in the "poverty-exempt" residential tariffs. However, for residential tariffs exceeding 1001 kWh, the increase has been kept at 16%. State institutions will face a substantial 222% increase in their tariffs.

Fixed charges have seen a 34% increase. The fixed charge in residential tariffs has risen from 25 TL to 35.50 TL. Inspection fees, insurance replacement costs, and deposits have also increased by approximately 33%.

Under the new tariffs, the per kWh temporary current fee for single-rate tariffs will rise from 6.2886 TL to 8.2431 TL. For residential tariffs within the range of 0-250 kWh, the fee will increase from 2.1912 TL to 2.87232 TL. Tariffs between 251-500 kWh will go from 4.5205 TL to 5.9257 TL. For residential tariffs ranging from 501-750 kWh, the fee is raised from 4.8606 TL to 6.3714 TL. The 751-1000 kWh residential tariff will increase from 5.2687 TL to 6.9063 TL. For residential tariffs exceeding 1001 kWh, the fee has been raised from 6.2888 TL to 7.2730 TL.

Single-rate tariff fees for commercial, industrial, and tourism businesses, as well as foundation and university buildings, have increased from 4.5205 TL to 5.9257 TL per kWh.

For all sectors using three-rate tariffs, during the "peak hours," the fee per kWh has risen from 6.2538 TL to 8.1976 TL. During "normal hours," the fee has increased from 4.5206 TL to 5.9257 TL. In "off-peak hours," the fee has risen from 2.9800 TL to 3.9062 TL per kWh.

Meter inspection fees have increased from 1,028.04 TL to 1,448.24 TL, and the reconnection fee for electricity previously disconnected due to unpaid bills has gone up from 135.63 TL to 181.03 TL.
