Christodoulides: We Are Not Afraid of Negotiations, We Know Very Well What We Want
President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides stated that they are not afraid of negotiations, know very well what they want, and hope for a response from Turkey. Christodoulides also mentioned that in the coming days, the United Nations Secretary-General is expected to make a proposal for the appointment of a personal representative in the efforts to resume negotiations on the Cyprus problem.
According to reports in Alithia and other newspapers, President Nikos Christodoulides made statements on the Cyprus problem yesterday, emphasizing that the Greek Cypriot side is "not afraid of negotiations."
In response to a question about recent developments regarding the appointment of a personal representative by the UN Secretary-General, Christodoulides noted that the Turkish Cypriot side had rejected a name they found acceptable. He stated that they expect the UN Secretary-General to make a proposal in the coming days, adding that they are ready to collaborate with the person appointed.
Christodoulides also asserted that they are not afraid of negotiations, know very well what they want, and hope for a response from Turkey.
