The announcement includes warnings such as ensuring cigarette butts are completely extinguished before disposing of them in trash bins, timely maintenance of vehicles, refraining from using electric outlets in case of gas leaks, and not intervening with water in case of a pot or pan catching fire on the stove.

The police statement provides the following guidelines:

  • Ensure cigarette butts are completely extinguished before disposing of them in trash bins.

  • Timely servicing, maintenance, exhaust, and tire checks for private vehicles, agricultural vehicles, public transportation vehicles, and vehicles carrying fuel prevent fuel leaks, short circuits, and sparks from exhausts that can cause fires.

  • Do not turn on electrical outlets if you suspect a gas leak. Do not enter the premises with any tools that could create sparks (such as mobile phones, flashlights, etc.) if you suspect a gas leak. Turn off the electricity from the switch, open doors and windows, and use a broom to release accumulated gas outside.

  • Avoid connecting devices that consume excessive power (such as irons, refrigerators, and hairdryers) to power strips, as it increases the risk of fire.

  • Insure your business and residence against any fire risks to help cover potential financial losses.

  • Have the electrical installations in your businesses and homes checked by professionals to prevent short circuits caused by excessive loads.

  • If your active stove catches fire, remain calm. First, turn off the stove, use a fire extinguisher if available; otherwise, wet and squeeze a cloth, cover the fire area, and do not use water, as it can exacerbate the fire.

  • Keep a 2 kg dry chemical powder fire extinguisher in your vehicles and homes, and learn how to use it to prevent fire growth and potential danger.

  • In case of any signs of smoke or fire, citizens are urged to immediately contact the emergency lines ALO 199 (Fire), ALO 177 (Forest Fire), and 155 (Police Emergency).
