Former FM Markulli: Appointment of a Personal Representative Sign of Regression
Former Cypriot Foreign Minister Erato Kozaku Markulli stated in an interview with Politis newspaper that the appointment of a personal representative for the Cyprus problem is considered a "regression."
Markulli claimed that the insistence of the Turkish Cypriot side on appointing a personal representative rather than a special envoy is a "serious regression" and provides Turkey with the opportunity to persist in its insistence on a two-state solution.
According to the report, Markulli argued that in every period without negotiations, Turkey creates new facts on the ground, and violations in the buffer zone will continue as long as negotiations are not held.
Markulli noted that the credibility of the Greek Cypriot side has significantly decreased since Crans Montana, hindering political objections.
